ADJECTIVE & ADVERBS


1.      ADJECTIVE
Adjective merupakan sebuah kata atau frasa yang digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan atau menjelaskan gambaran akan sebuah kata benda atau kata ganti.
Contoh Kalimat Adjective yang diikuti 1 adjective
1.      This cat is so cute.
2.      He is so handsome.
3.      My student is clever.
4.      This food is so delicious.
5.      This food is so expensive.
Contoh Kalimat Adjective yang diikuti 2 adjective
1.      She is tall and interesting.
2.      Diana is friendly and beautiful.
3.      Tonight is very quite and dark.
4.      Rina is pretty but fat.

Adverbs adalah kata keterangan yang digunakan untuk menerangkan kata kerja, kata sifat atau kata keterangan yang lainnya.

MODALS


1.      FUNCTION
            Untuk mengekspresikan willingness (kemauan) atau ability (kemampuan), necessity (kebutuhan), dan possibility.
2.      DIFFERENCES
a)      Modals tidak ditambahi –s, -ed, atau –ing
Apapun subjek yang anda pakai modals tidak ditambahi dengan –s, -ed, atau –ing. Contohnya :
1)      She cans drive a motorcycle. (salah)
2)      She can drive a motorcyle. (benar)

b)     Modals diikuti kata kerja bentuk pertama
Harus menggunakan kata kerja pertama setelah modals. Dengan kata lain, kata kerja tersebut tidak ditambahi dengan s/es, -to, atau –ing.
Contohnya :
1)      They can to come to the party. (salah)
2)      They can come to the party. (benar)
Bagaimana dengan have to dan ought to?karena dari sananya mengandung to tetap harus menggunakan kata kerja bentuk pertama setelah kedua modals tersebut.
1)      You ough wash your car. (salah)
2)      You ought to wash your car. (benar)

c)      Pengecualian dalam Kalimat Negatif
Untuk membantu kaliat negatif tambahkan not atau n’t setelah modals.
Contohnya :
1)      I cannot dance very well
2)      You should not go to bed so late on a work night

3.      EXAMPLE
1)      Can/could
a)      I can cook very well
b)      I could not sing this song beautifully

2)      May/might
a)      Tia does not come to the class, she may get up late
b)      Shinta might not angry because i am her boyfriend

3)      Must/had to
a)      You must pay all of these
b)      You must not be late

4)      Shall/should
a)      We shall return the books this week end
b)      You look so tired, you should take a rest

5)      Will/would
a)      I will go to manado
b)      I would visit Bali last semester but I did not have money
